Return to the past
As online shopping and modern retail reshape consumer habits, traditional wet markets that nourished generations are gradually losing foot traffic. This interactive piece revives temple-fair nostalgia by turning 40 reclaimed biscuit tins into a ball-toss game. Winning tickets can be redeemed for snacks and goods at small shops across Gad Luang.
The 40 tins embody a living statistic: collected from actual sales over one month, they reflect a sharp decline from the past, when the vendor routinely sold over 100 tins monthly. Complementing the installation are aluminum plates—symbolizing technological progress—etched with the character “Nong Kla-Long” narrating the market's heritage. By transforming prize redemption into a market-wide treasure hunt, the work invites visitors to rediscover hidden stalls and reconnect with the warmth of local merchants.
