Siam Si Pa Chao

In an era marked by rapid change and uncertainty, where people continually seek meaning amidst life's complexities, the tradition of Siam Si (Chinese-Thai fortune sticks) endures as a gentle threshold between faith and coincidence. Whether driven by devout belief or quiet curiosity, many of us still feel the timeless pull to cast our fortunes into the unknown.

The interactive installation “Siam Si Pa Chao” (a northern Thai phrase meaning “Encountering the Divine”) reimagines this ancient divinatory ritual through nine reinterpreted wooden fortune sticks. Visitors are invited to pause amidst the bustling market, draw a stick, and receive their prophetic message firsthand.

Rather than offering dogmatic predictions, the work transforms divination into a fleeting, meditative sanctuary—a quiet moment to step out of the daily rush, gaze inward, and reflect on what these poetic messages truly illuminate within our own hearts and life journeys.
